Every family must decide what is right for their family, and I'm sure it is an evolving process.<br /><br />Because my kids have so little interaction with electronic toys or screens in general, I feel a cell phone would become an obsessive toy and it would only be a matter of time until they were texting or calling their friends all the time or prank calling boys.<br /><br />Basically, we try to keep life simple and, barring any safety needs, a cell phone is an unnecessary complication.<br /><br />I agree with you on make up: it's the intent more than the thing itself, even though I am still squeamish about the idea of my daughters putting it on.
